Oh crumbs!
I sat down to update my CV as a quick before-the-kids-get-up job to apply for a project and then realised I haven’t done this since 2019…
There are so many things that have become part of my life and work I hadn’t dreamed of in 2019…
I thought I was sitting down to quickly add a few things in, but it’s become an enforced evaluation and reflection on how my life and work have changed over the last three years – the impact of the pandemic; working with the support of Arts Council England to research and experiment with new ways of working; Black Lives Matter and zoom opening the door to collaborate with artists from all over the world…
I’m looking at a window into my life only three years ago and there is no mention of Taking The Tradition On, Zoom, podcasts, Get A Word In Edgeways or virtual reality. I was just on the verge of starting ‘From Fireside to Facebook’, digitising Duncan’s reel-to-reel tapes and entering the social media and digital world, which has led me into three years of questioning; experimenting; swearing at computers; talking to myself surrounded by swathes of green cloth; building a web of international friendship, support and constructive challenge; dancing round my shed when something finally works and late nights staring at a screen.
The more I learn and venture into new spaces – the more I’m aware of how much there is to know, do and try and that I’m just paddling at the edges! But as I contemplate throwing away my old C.V. and starting again from scratch with new photos, new layout and a whole new approach, I can see how far I’ve come and how much I have learned and accomplished in the past three years.
Well – I suppose I better get started…
